Hannah Truaz, 30, and five foot tall, is a female powerhouse who takes no sh**. An accomplished mountaineer, climber, backpacker, backcountry skier, decided to quit her job in Durango, and use her passion for the outdoors and skills as a maker to create something that would help make her community safer. She came up with a rescue sled, which is a completely recycled design, rolls up into a small stuff sack, and meets American Mountain Guide Association Ski Guide standards. Responding to some of the worst avalanche seasons on record, Truaz started Sew Alpine and makes durable rescue sleds for mountain guides and avalanche instructors that packs into a backpack.
